Pascal Pompetzki
Research Team
After having moved to Switzerland in the pursuit of studying psychology, I found out about research on psychedelics and their use in psychotherapy. It was during my first internship at the Hasler lab that I became deeply fascinated with the growing field. The very first ALPS conference that I visited was very illuminating to me. In the spirit of this movement of students that sought to live as peacefully and consciously as possible, while sticking to scientific rigor in their endeavour of educating about psychedelics, I co-founded the student’s organization called PROBe at the University of Bern, where I am also starting my Ph.D. in clinical psychology very soon.
I stayed in touch with the many friends I gathered in the ALPS community and regularly visited the conferences. I became part of the research team years ago and I have collaborated in two projects since then. Being able to choose with whom you work is something that intrigues me about research in general and it is thanks to the both empathic and ambitious vibe in the research team that I am still very happy to be part of it. :)
Following the tradition of the Hasler lab, I am especially interested in risks and side-effects of psychedelic use among recreational users and in therapy. As far as I know, no one ever seriously looked into possible negative long-term effects of regular psychedelic use (except for the concerns about fibrosis). If someone is interested in doing a project on that, feel free to reach out to me.
